– Ken Rees
An (almost) Forgotten History
a look at the fate of some lesser known British pagan groups from the 1970s onwards.”

Since the late 1960s, British paganism has experienced a plethora of pagan groupings. While some still exist from those days, the majority have risen only to fall into a largely hidden history. This talk takes a few examples of these, including such ventures as the Pan-Pagan School (a school in a rucksack), Wood and Water, and Pagans against Nukes.

Kenneth Rees has been active in the pagan and Wiccan community since the 1970s, both as post-graduate researcher and participator. He has taught esoteric subjects for many academic institutions over the past three decades, and knew personally leading figures of the above groups.

– JOHN WADSWORTH
“WALKING THE HEAVENS ON THE EARTH
Tales From A Pilgrim On The Road To Santiago De Compostela”

Glastonbury-based astrologer, John Wadsworth, will talk about the inspiration that can be gained from walking a sacred path, recounting tales and poetry from his recent 500-mile journey to Santiago de Compostela. This long established Catholic pilgrimage is traversed every year, nowadays, by tens of thousands of pilgrims of broader spiritual and secular persuasions. From an esoteric perspective, to make a pilgrimage is to weave together heaven and earth, and, as you walk the Camino de Santiago, the idea is that you are tracing the path of the Milky Way on the ground. John will explain the theological significance of the Camino, within the context of the gnostic and astrological traditions that may even pre-date the Christian pilgrimage.

John Wadsworth is a professional astrologer and runs the Kairos School of Astrology in Glastonbury. He is also the founder of The Alchemical Journey, a contemporary astrological mystery school that takes people on a journey through the zodiacal cycles of the year and involves monthly pilgrimages into the landscape effigies of the Glastonbury Zodiac.

– DAVID PARRY

VANATRU – A Path Less Travelled”
There are hidden depths to Heathenry, and the “Way of the Vanir”, or the “Vanic way”, is an indigenous religious practice, upholding our communion with Nature Spirits as vital to human survival. Not wishing to be subsumed within the ideological folds of Asatru. David Parry will explain the distinct differences between these forms of magic and worship in the Northern tradition. He will also explore his recent ordination as a priest of Earth Mother Nerthus, as both cultural recovery and symbolic act of spiritual husbandry.

– DONAL RUANE

“IN SEARCH OF THE SERPENT

DRUGS In MAGIC

This is the story of a journey that literally saved Donal’s life. It is the story of how a near-fatal childhood illness left him dysfunctional and self-destructive, and of a spiritual crisis that sent him into the Amazon jungle and on a profound journey deep into himself. It is a universal story of self-discovery and healing that needs to be told because it provides a portal into an arcane world of ritual magic and the real living breathing spiritual world that exists now and always – within and around us all.

Included in this talk will be a discussion of the importance of the traditional diet, receiving ‘icaros’ (magic melodies) and ‘arcana’ (protection and defense), near death experiences, encounters with ‘spirits’, and the need to stay grounded while following this path.

“THE BOOK OF MIRRORS

A Journey Into Wicca”

The aim of “The Book of Mirrors” by Luthaneal Adams is to help people who find themselves training with a witch coven or just considering it – the author concentrates on his experiences; this book opens a window into the process of training with a coven, both for the prospective trainees and for all those covens out there who may benefit from seeing things from the other side.

Luthaneal will be giving a talk to accompany The Book of Mirrors, dealing with subjects like: what is traditional Wicca?, finding a coven, things you might not know about Wicca, being a Seeker, and what it means to initiate. There’ll be time for Q&A with Luthaneal afterwards, and he’ll also be signing copies of The Book of Mirrors.

– JAMES HEAD
“KNOW THYSELF
Delphic Guide To Your Own Spiritual Path

Where can we find “the path”? Where should we look? Does it matter which path we choose? Does one size fit all? In this talk James looks in some detail at the maxim from ancient Delphi of “Know Thyself”, and discusses why we should follow this advice as a first step in trying to answer the above questions. He also refers to Socrates’ advice to Alcibiades to “Know Thyself”, as further explanation of what “the self” actually is. After all, how will we find and know ourselves, if we are not even sure what the self actually is?

A little over 20 years ago, at age 32, James Head first went to ancient Delphi in Greece for a”day trip” like many other tourists who go there. However, while he was there on that first visit, he had this intense religious or spiritual awakening; a sudden realisation that there were other ways of looking at things spiritually from the way he had been used to all his previous life in England. Within a year of this first visit James had moved to Delphi, and he lived there fulltime more than 12 years. These days he divides his time between Delphi, Athens, and London. As far as possible he offers spiritual guidance and ‘philosophical’ help to people who ask for it, both in Greece and in the United Kingdom.
