Upstairs, at the Devereux Public House, 20 Devereux Court,
off Essex Street, The Strand, London WC2R 3JJ. (Located between Middle Temple Lane and Milford Lane; from Victoria Embankment the nearest tube is Temple underground station, on the circle line.) Doors open 7:30pm / Starts 8:30pm. Admission is £2.  All are welcome.

Talking Stick began at The Plough on Wednesday, 14^th February, 1990, meeting fortnightly, moving through the years to The Marquis Cornwallis, The Dog & Trumpet, The Black Horse, to The Princess Louise, there becoming Secret Chiefs on Wednesday, 15^th March, 2000.  Now at The Devereux (since January 2004), on alternate Mondays (since January 2010)….

 – A Journey Into Wicca”

The aim of “The Book of Mirrors” by Luthaneal Adams is to help people who find themselves training with a witch coven or just considering it – the author concentrates on his experiences; this book opens a window into the process of training with a coven, both for the prospective trainees and for all those covens out there who may benefit from seeing things from the other side.

Luthaneal will be giving a talk to accompany The Book of Mirrors, dealing with subjects like: what is traditional Wicca?, finding a coven, things you might not know about Wicca, being a Seeker, and what it means to initiate.  There’ll be time for Q&A with Luthaneal afterwards, and he’ll also be signing copies of The Book of Mirrors.

– The Contributions Of Solo, Partnership, And Group Work”

The concept of the `magical personality’ is fundamental to the practice of magic, as is that of `magical space’. Both these terms will be examined. The pros and cons of working alone, working in a magical partnership, and working in a group in developing the magical personality will be explored and evaluated.

 Kenneth Rees has taught esoteric philosophy for nearly 3 decades, in more that a dozen academic institutions. He has had considerable practical experience with working in all 3 modes discussed above.

Charlotte Rodgers is an occultist, artist and writer who lives in quiet eccentricity in Somerset. Her work is primarily focused on the concept of the fetish and the power it contains. She works with bones and road kill which she prepares and integrates into her art to convey the essence of time, place and species. As well as working with three dimensional sculpture she writes, and has been involved in performance and event organisation, and public speaking.

Her book  The Bloody Sacrifice  on the contemporary application of spiritually directed blood sacrifice, has been released by Mandrake of Oxford and an anthology which she has compiled ‘A Contemporary Western Book of the Dead’ will be out early this year, also published by Mandrake of Oxford.

“KNOW THYSELF

- Delphic Guide To Your Own Spiritual Path”

Where can we find “the path”? Where should we look?  Does it matter which path we choose? Does one size fit all?  In this talk James looks in some detail at the maxim from ancient Delphi of “Know Thyself”, and discusses why we should follow this advice as a first step in trying to answer the above questions. He also refers to Socrates’ advice to Alcibiades to “Know Thyself”, as further explanation of what “the self” actually is. After all, how will we find and know ourselves, if we are not even sure what the self actually is?

A little over 20 years ago, at age 32, James Head first went to ancient Delphi in Greece for a”day trip” like many other tourists who go there. However, while he was there on that first visit, he had this intense religious or spiritual awakening; a sudden realisation that there were other ways of looking at things spiritually from the way he had been used to all his previous life in England. Within a year of this first visit James had moved to Delphi, and he lived there fulltime more than 12 years. These days he divides his time between Delphi, Athens, and London. As far as possible he offers spiritual guidance and ‘philosophical’ help to people who ask for it, both in Greece and in the United Kingdom.
